As we said on previous pages some email providers have very silly spam systems where they block entire servers for a complaint against a single site.

While this issue is caused by them and not you, you unfortunately do have a responsibility because of their foolishness. Before you click the "This is spam" button in your email account MAKE SURE IT IS!!!

There are some very obvious spam emails where the email address is something like dhyyfgok@somesite.com This is an email address that has been created with one intention, to send out spam emails. By all means report it.

But if the email is from a dating site or a newsletter BE CAREFUL! Are you sure you didnt subscribe to get something free, are you sure you didn't join and forget? Are you sure someone else with access to your computer didnt join? If you no longer wish to receive emails from a site take the time to remove yourself from their list. A good site will have a clear unsubscribe link in every email. If there is no clear unsubscribe link in the email, write to them and ask to be removed.

Don't forget that by complaining against one site wrongly you could be affecting HUNDREDS of other sites, maybe a site you WANT to get email from.

Please do not hit "This is spam" just because you can not be bothered to go remove yourself. If you do that you could be ruining the chances of other people who share your email provider enjoying that site, and worse you can negatively affect the livelihood of the people who own that site. You would be pretty annoyed if someone affected your income by reporting you for spam when you hadn't spammed them at all.

People who run websites are just like you, they have mortgages to pay and kids to feed, please remember that. If people do not act responsibly the filters of these email providers will get so bad that email will cease to be effective or worthwhile. The day will come when you can not email your friends because your email provider is blacklisted by another.
