So what is our solution to spam??? Below are our recommendations on setting up your email to deal with spam quickly and with the minimum of fuss.
Option 1 The Basic Way
Using this method will at least mean your email does not get censored without your permission. However we can offer no guarantees as to the quality of spam filtering for these services.
Get an email account from a company that DOES NOT CENSOR YOUR EMAIL. There are a few recommended ones below all these links open in a new window so you do not lose this page.
These companies do have spam filters and sort what they think is spam into a spam folder, but they do not delete your mail without asking you.

Option 2 The Best Solution To Rid Your Life Of Spam
This method will make sure that dealing with spam takes you no more than a few minutes a day. It takes a little setting up but you only have to do it once. We receive well in excess of 500 spam emails every day. Dealing with them takes us about 3 minutes.
Step One
Get yourself an email account that offers POP3 access. Pop3 access basically means you can access your email account using other programs without logging in.

Get a copy of Mail Washer. This is an EXCELLENT EXCELLENT program that will change spam from a major inconvenience to a few extra clicks of your mouse each day.
From your pc Mail Washer will check your email account to see what is there. It then compares ALL emails you have in your inbox with the big spam databases. Any emails it KNOWS are spam it marks in red.
With one click of the "process mail" button, you can remove ALL those emails from your email account without even logging in.
If Mail Washer suspects an email is spam but is not sure it will mark it in beige with the words "possible spam" you then either mark it as spam or mark it as being from a friend. You then click "process mail" again and remove all those emails. This of course has trained the program for the future.
What you are left with is a list of legitimate email marked in "green" that you want. More importantly YOU HAVE CHOICE!!! If (on a rare occasion) Mail Washer thinks an email you want is spam, you simply mark the sender as a friend and next time the email will not be flagged as spam.
Wait there is more. Mail Washer does not download attachments which can carry viruses because you are actually reading your mail on the mail server not on your pc. It also tells you where any links REALLY point to, this can help you avoid those bogus Paypal, Ebay and bank emails.
